Scope

This document specifies the functional safety requirements for the installation of tank overflow prevention systems in hazardous chemical storage tanks.
This document applies to above-ground fixed oil and other hazardous chemical liquid atmospheric pressure storage tanks with a capacity of more than 5 m3. Fixed liquid atmospheric pressure storage tanks with a capacity of 5 m3 or less can be implemented as a reference.
This document does not apply to LPG/LNG tanks, dedicated buffer tanks, engine fuel tanks, heating oil tanks, and tanks that only receive oil from wheeled tank trucks (such as oil tankers or railway oil tankers).
