Scope

This standard specifies the method for determining the content of six flavor components, including ethyl lactate, butyl lactate, maltol, ethyl maltol, methyl cyclopentenolone, and ethyl vanillin, in feed flavoring agents by gas chromatography. This standard is applicable to the determination of the content of ethyl lactate, butyl lactate, maltol, ethyl maltol, methyl cyclopentenolone, and ethyl vanillin in feed flavoring agents (powder form). The detection limits of this method are as follows: ethyl lactate, 37.5 mg/kg; butyl lactate, maltol, and ethyl vanillin, 20.0 mg/kg each; ethyl maltol, 17.5 mg/kg; and methyl cyclopentenolone, 15.0 mg/kg.
