Scope

This standard applies to the characterization test procedures for medical diagnostic X-ray equipment systems or components, which require well-defined radiation conditions. Except for mammography, this standard does not apply to cases where discontinuities of radiation-absorbing elements are deliberately selected to improve the characteristics of the radiation beam (for example, using rare earth filter plates). The speed measurement of screen-film systems is not included in this standard. This topic will be summarized in an ISO standard.
