Scope

This part of GB/T 10066 specifies the test procedures, conditions, and methods for electric arc furnaces (EAFs). Based on these, it determines the main parameters and operating characteristics of AC electric arc furnaces (EAFac) or DC electric arc furnaces (EAFdc) with a capacity of more than 500 kg/furnace. The electric arc furnace technology is also applicable to such furnaces, where the liquid metal in the furnace is maintained at a high temperature or overheated to the casting temperature (e.g., using AC ladle furnaces (LF)). The test methods for certain special equipment, such as DC electric arc furnace controllable rectifiers, are specified in IEC 6014611. The test methods for submerged arc furnaces (SAF) are specified in IEC 60683.
