Scope

This standard specifies the terms and definitions of mechanical seals and soft packing for axial suction centrifugal pumps (hereinafter referred to as pumps), the dimensions of the sealing chamber and sealing end cover accessories, and the design requirements of the sealing chamber.
This standard is applicable to pumps for general use and heavy-duty working conditions.
This standard is not applicable to slurry pumps and impurity pumps.
