Scope
This standard is applicable to the determination of industrial isobutylene with a purity greater than 98.00% (by mass fraction) and a content of hydrocarbon impurities such as propane, propylene, isobutane, n-butane, cis-2-butene, 1-butene, trans-2-butene, propargyne, 1,3-butadiene, n-pentane, and isopentane not less than 0.0010% (by mass fraction). Since this standard cannot determine all possible impurities such as oxide compounds, isobutylene dimers, and water, it is necessary to apply other test methods to comprehensively characterize isobutylene samples.
