GB/T 25890.5-2010 Railway applications—Fixed installations—DC switchgear—Part 5:Surge arresters and low-voltage limiters for specific use in d.c.system
Basic Information
Scope
The requirements for lightning arresters used in ground equipment of DC traction power supply systems are specified in Chapters 4, 5 and 6 of this part of GB/T 25890. The said lightning arresters include one or more non-linear resistance elements, which can be connected in series with one or more discharge gaps.
The requirements for low-voltage limiters are specified in Chapter 7 of this part of GB/T 25890. In ground equipment of DC traction power supply systems, when the voltage exceeds the specified value, the limiters will be connected to certain parts of the system, thereby providing protection. Low-voltage limiters can also be used together with contactors and other equipment to form a self-recovery device. Generally, limiters do not provide surge protection.
Low-voltage limiters are mainly used as follows:
——Connecting metal rails;
——Protecting track circuits;
——Grounding rails in substations;
——Protecting cathode circuits;
——Protecting cable shielding layers.
