Scope

This standard specifies the requirements for the determination of major chemical components in tobacco and tobacco products by near-infrared diffuse reflectance spectroscopy, including: total volatile alkali, water-soluble sugars (water-soluble total sugars, reducing sugars), total plant alkaloids, total nitrogen, chlorine, total protein, potassium, calcium, magnesium, petroleum ether extract, chlorogenic acid, rutin, starch, pH value, and ash. This standard is applicable to the analysis and determination of major chemical components in tobacco and tobacco products (solid powders with a particle size ≤ 0.4 mm) in the near-infrared spectral region (12,800 cm-1 to 4,000 cm-1 or 780 nm to 2,500 nm). This standard is not applicable to arbitration testing.
