Scope

The signal quality requirements specified in this standard are limited to interfaces with asynchronous DCE or interfaces with synchronous DCE operating asynchronously, in accordance with the start-stop transmission of CCITT Recommendation V.14 or V.42. The signal quality of DTEs operating synchronously is not part of this standard. This standard is also applicable when the above-mentioned interfaces specified in the national standard or CCITT recommendations are processed at the ISDN reference point R defined in CCITT Recommendation I.411 and specified in CCITT Recommendations V.110, V.120, and X.30.
