Scope
This document specifies the requirements and recommendations for good practices in the collection, transportation, reception, and processing of samples for medical laboratory testing. This document applies to medical laboratories and other healthcare institutions involved in pre-testing processes, including test request processes (such as test applications), patient preparation and identification, sample collection, transportation, reception, storage, and processing. This document may also apply to certain biobanks. This document does not apply to blood and blood products used for transfusion.
