Scope
This standard specifies the replica technique for surface inspection using transparent nitrocellulose film material, cellulose acetate, or plastic materials (with or without a carrier), which is used to record the unevenness of the metal surface state caused by mechanical or metallurgical reasons. The advantage of the method specified in this standard is that it is suitable for certain difficult-to-detect parts or workpieces that are not allowed to be damaged. Moreover, the replicas can be observed with low-magnification optical devices on-site or taken to the laboratory for inspection under high-magnification metallographic microscopes.
