Scope
This document specifies the technical requirements for multi-layer materials used in the manufacture of thin-walled sliding bearings (bearing shells, bushings, thrust washers). Multi-layer materials consist of a steel backing, a bearing material layer (cast, sintered, or rolled composite), and may also include a coating layer. This document is applicable to the selection of materials for thin-walled sliding bearings. Note: The chemical composition in this document refers to the chemical composition of raw materials that have not been processed and were tested on representative samples. Sampling and chemical composition testing on finished bearings may be affected by the processing process, making the data obtained uncomparable to those given in this document.
