Scope

1.1 This standard specifies the household washing and drying procedures for textiles and stipulates the standard detergents and accompanying items used in the procedures.
This standard applies to the household washing and drying of textile fabrics, garments, or other textile products.
1.2 This standard stipulates the following washing procedures:
a) 13 washing programs using horizontal drum, front-loading standard washing machines (Type A washing machines);
b) 11 washing programs using vertical agitation, top-loading standard washing machines (Type B washing machines);
c) 7 washing programs using vertical agitation, top-loading standard washing machines (Type C washing machines).
1.3 Each washing program represents an independent household washing process.
1.4 This standard specifies 6 drying procedures:
A--Hanging to dry;
B--Hanging to drip dry;
C--Flat drying;
D--Flat drip drying;
E--Flat pressing;
F--Flipping drying.
Note: If the parties concerned agree, the oven drying procedure can be used. See Appendix Q for details.
1.5 A complete test includes both the washing and drying procedures.
Note: Using different parameters (washing machine type, detergent type, and dryer type) when conducting tests according to this standard may affect the test results. Therefore, it is encouraged that the parties concerned using this standard agree on the parameters used.
