Scope
This standard specifies the terms and definitions, classification, quality factors and their levels, grading indicators, inspection methods, and labeling requirements for cultured pearls. This standard applies to the production, trade, and quality evaluation of cultured pearls, but does not apply to the grading of cultured pearls that have undergone treatments such as irradiation and dyeing. The grading of natural pearls can also be implemented with reference to this standard.
