Scope

This standard specifies the terms and definitions, classification, materials, design evaluation, manufacturing, sterilization, packaging, and information to be provided by manufacturers for joint replacement implants - shoulder joint prostheses.
This standard applies to partial or total shoulder joint prostheses consisting of a glenoid component and a humerus component that provide functional joint function.
This standard does not apply to custom prostheses. Modular prostheses are applicable to this standard.
