Scope
This standard specifies the emission limits of exhaust pollutants from light-duty vehicles with internal combustion engines under simplified transient operating conditions. This standard applies to light-duty vehicles in use that are equipped with internal combustion engines. This standard does not apply to light-duty vehicles with full-time four-wheel drive, nor does it apply to roadside inspections and spot checks.
