GB/Z 44813-2024 Measurement of fluid flow in closed conduits—Effects of flow pulsations on flow-measurement instruments
Basic Information
Scope
This document defines pulsating fluid flow, compares it with stable fluid flow, provides its detection methods, and describes the impact of pulsating flow on instruments used to measure fluid in pipelines, such as orifice plates, nozzles, Venturi tubes, turbine flowmeters, and vortex flowmeters. This document specifically mentions these types of flowmeters because they are easily affected by pulsating flow. For these flowmeters, the document introduces methods of correcting the output signal errors caused by pulsating flow. When correction is not possible, the document also provides measures to avoid or reduce the impact of pulsating flow. These measures include installing pulsation damping devices and/or selecting flowmeters that are less susceptible to pulsating flow. This document applies to fluids that generate pulsations from a single source upstream or downstream of the flowmeter's primary device. It is only applicable to situations where the flow direction does not reverse within the measurement section, but there are no restrictions on the pulsation waveform. The document also applies to both liquid and gas flows. For gas flows, it may be limited to situations where the density change within the measurement section of specific types of flowmeters is relatively small.
