Scope

This standard specifies the gas-insulated metal-enclosed switchgear installed indoors and outdoors with a rated voltage of 72.5 kV and above and a rated frequency of 50 Hz, where the insulation is achieved at least in part by insulating gas rather than air under atmospheric pressure.

For the convenience of using this standard, the terms "GIS" and "switchgear" are both used to describe "gas-insulated metal-enclosed switchgear".

The gas-insulated metal-enclosed switchgear covered by this standard consists of separate components that can be directly connected together, and these components can only operate in this manner.
