Scope
This standard specifies the technical requirements for cable reels for household and similar applications, including classification, marking, structure, electrical performance, and mechanical performance. This standard applies to cable reels rated for AC voltages exceeding 50 V but not exceeding 250 V (single-phase cable reels) or exceeding 50 V but not exceeding 440 V (all cable reels except single-phase), and with a rated current not exceeding 16 A. These cable reels are used indoors or outdoors for household, commercial, light industrial, or similar applications where safety requirements are particularly high during normal use. This standard does not apply to: -- cable reels installed in appliances or lighting fixtures; -- cable reels connected to appliances or lighting fixtures.
