Basic Information
Scope
This standard specifies the technical and safety guidelines that must be followed in the manufacture and installation of vertical guide-equipped personnel and cargo construction lifts.
This standard applies to power-driven, temporarily installed construction lifts with cages that can stop at various floors and be used by construction site personnel (hereinafter referred to as lifts). They have the following main characteristics:
—— They can carry people or both people and cargo;
—— They have guide devices;
—— The cages operate vertically or along rails with a maximum angle of no more than 15° to the vertical plane;
—— The cages are suspended or supported by wire ropes driven by drums, or by gear racks, hydraulic cylinders (directly or indirectly), or telescopic linkage mechanisms;
—— When erecting the rail frames, they may or may not require the support of other independent structures.
This standard does not apply to:
—— Cargo construction lifts; EN 12158-1:2000 and EN 12158-2:2000;
—— Elevators in accordance with GB 7588—2003, GB 21240—2007, and EN 81-3:2000;
—— Working cages suspended by lifting equipment;
—— Lifting platforms supported by forks of forklifts;
—— Work platforms in accordance with ISO 16368:2003, ISO 16369:2007, and EN 1570:1999;
—— Cable cars;
—— Specially designed military lifts;
—— Mining lifts;
—— Stage lifts;
—— Special-purpose lifts.
Note: Chapter 4 of this standard identifies the potential hazards that may arise during the use of the equipment and lists the measures to eliminate or reduce these hazards when used in accordance with the manufacturer's specifications. Hazards not covered by this standard should comply with the requirements of GB/T 15706—2007.
This standard does not include supplementary requirements for the following situations:
