Scope

1.1 This standard specifies the technical requirements and test methods for tank containers for gases, liquids, and dry bulk cargo, which can be loaded and unloaded by gravity or pressure like liquids. Such containers are suitable for road, rail, and water transport, as well as intermodal transport between these modes of transport.
1.2 Unless otherwise specified, the requirements listed in this standard are minimum requirements. Tank containers used for transporting dangerous goods should also comply with the regulations for international and domestic transport set by the relevant competent authorities.
1.3 This standard applies to all types of containers listed in Table 1.
