Scope

This standard specifies a non-destructive testing method for detecting discontinuities and material quality in conductive materials using conformal eddy current array sensors. The discontinuities include fractures, cracks, pitting on the material surface, and material loss near the surface of the material. The material quality includes coating thickness, electrical conductivity, magnetic permeability, surface roughness, and other properties related to electrical conductivity or magnetic permeability. This standard is applicable to non-magnetic and magnetic metal materials, as well as composite materials containing conductive components. The inspected items can be with or without coatings, and the surface shapes can be flat or curved.
