Scope

1.1 This standard specifies two methods for determining the organic chlorine content of crude oil. These include Method A - Reduction potential titration with sodium dibenzoate, and Method B - Combustion oxidation microcoulometry.
1.2 This standard is applicable to crude oil with an organic chlorine content greater than 1 μg/g. However, Method B is not suitable for crude oil with a total sulfur content that exceeds 10,000 times the organic chlorine content.
