Scope

This standard specifies the rough diameter dimensions of workpieces before the rolling and drawing of unified threads. The nominal diameter range of unified threads is 0.060 in to 2.000 in (after 1/4 in, only the first series of diameters are available; there are six thread pitch series, namely UNC, UNF, UNEF, 8UN, 12UN, and 16UN, with the minimum number of teeth being 6); the thread tolerance bands are divided into 2A and 3A. This standard applies to unified threads made of carbon steel and alloy steel materials by the full tooth extrusion process. Note: "Full tooth extrusion process" refers to a processing method in which the thread material completely fills the tooth bottom space of the tool during thread extrusion forming.
