Scope

This standard specifies a method for measuring the bursting strength of paper by increasing the hydraulic pressure. This standard is applicable to the measurement of the bursting strength of paper with a range of 70 kPa to 1,400 kPa, but it is not suitable for the measurement of the bursting strength of composite paperboards (such as corrugated paperboards or lining paperboards). The method given in GB/T 1539 is more suitable for the measurement of the bursting strength of composite paperboard products. In the absence of a specified measurement method in commercial agreements, materials with a bursting strength of less than 600 kPa can be tested using this standard.
