Scope
This document specifies a method for determining the relative solubility of hydrocarbon solvents used in paints, varnishes, and related products.
This document is applicable to the determination of the Shell Soluble Resin Butanol Value of hydrocarbon solvents with an initial distillation point greater than 40 °C and a dry point less than 300 °C, with a measurement range of 30 to 90; this document is also applicable to samples with Shell Soluble Resin Butanol Values exceeding this range, but the accuracy has not been determined yet.
