GB/T 20854-2025 Corrosion of metals and alloys—Accelerated testing involving cyclic exposure to salt mist,“dry” and “wet” conditions
Basic Information
Scope
This document specifies the instruments and test methods for evaluating the corrosion resistance of metal materials used in outdoor salt-contaminated environments, regardless of whether the tested materials have permanent or temporary corrosion protection. This document specifies the test methods for cyclically exposing samples to neutral salt spray and "dry" and "wet" test environments. This document does not specify the type of samples or exposure time explicitly. Compared with traditional accelerated corrosion tests such as the neutral salt spray test (NSS), the greatest advantage of this test is that it better replicates the corrosion that occurs in outdoor salt-contaminated environments. This accelerated corrosion test is applicable to: — Metals and their alloys; — Metal coatings (anodic and cathodic); — Conversion coatings; — Anodic oxide coatings; — Organic coatings on metal materials. Note: Test methods for coatings are given in GB/T 31588.1 to determine the resistance of coatings to various cyclic corrosion conditions (including water condensation on samples during wetting) when scratches penetrate the substrate.
