Scope

This standard specifies the general methods for determining aldehydes by turbidimetry with formaldehyde reagent, by colorimetry with chromotropic acid, and by colorimetry with alkaline pink sulfite. This standard is applicable to the determination of trace aldehydes in chemical reagents. The detection range of the turbidimetry with formaldehyde reagent is 0.5μg/mL to 4μg/mL (calculated as HCHO); the detection range of the colorimetry with chromotropic acid or visual colorimetry is 0.04μg/mL to 2μg/mL (calculated as HCHO); and the detection range of the colorimetry with alkaline pink sulfite is 0.4μg/mL to 4μg/mL (calculated as HCHO) and 4μg/mL to 32μg/mL (calculated as CH3CHO).
