Scope

This standard specifies the determination of the total surface area by the multi-point method using the multi-molecular layer adsorption theory of Brunauer, Emmett, and Teller (B.E.T. NSA), and the determination of the external surface area by the statistical adsorption layer thickness surface area method.
This standard is applicable to carbon black for rubber, pigment carbon black, acetylene carbon black, and precipitated hydrated silica (white carbon black).
