本标准规定了超声检测穿透技术的总则。穿透技术用于：
——缺欠检测；
——衰减测定。
本标准适用于检测平板类工件，如：平板和板带，还适用于检测：
——形状、尺寸或走向不利于直接反射法检测的缺欠；
——高衰减材料；
——薄工件。
本标准规定的穿透技术侧重于基于测量超声穿透被检件后信号衰减程度的传输衰减技术。
