Scope

This standard specifies the requirements for indoor ground sockets used solely for AC power, with a rated voltage of more than 50 V but not exceeding 440 V, and a rated current of not more than 32 A, for household and similar purposes.
For ground sockets equipped with non-threaded terminals, the maximum rated current is limited to 16 A.
This standard does not apply to industrial ground sockets.
Ground sockets that meet the requirements of this standard are suitable for use in environments with an ambient temperature that typically does not exceed 35 °C, but occasionally reaches 40 °C.
In special conditions, such as on ships, in vehicles, and in potentially explosive hazardous areas, special structures may be required.
