Scope

This part of GB/T 20624 specifies a test method for evaluating the rapid deformation of coatings and substrates caused by the impact of a spherical punch with a diameter of 12.7mm or 15.9mm, and for assessing the deformation results.
Note: The term "impact resistance" is included in the title of this standard, but an important feature of the instrument used is that it will cause rapid deformation rather than true impact.
When using numerical results, the reproducibility of this test method is poor, so the test must be conducted within the same laboratory. If grade evaluation is used instead of numerical results, the consistency between laboratories can be improved.
