Scope

This standard specifies the test method for the flammability of textiles in the vertical direction.
This standard applies to all types of single-layer or multi-layer (such as coated, quilted, multi-layered, sandwiched, and similar combinations) textile fabrics and their industrial products.
This standard is suitable for evaluating the performance of textile fabrics when they come into contact with flames under laboratory controlled conditions. However, it may not be suitable for situations where there is insufficient air supply or where the fabrics are exposed to heat for too long in a fire.
The influence of seams on the combustion performance of fabrics can be determined using this method. The seams are located on the sample to withstand the test flame. As far as possible, decorative elements should be tested as part of the fabric assembly.
