Scope

This standard specifies the classification, requirements, and test methods for chrome-free chemical conversion coatings for aluminum and aluminum alloys, whether they are washed or not, as well as the sampling inspection procedures.
This standard applies to chrome-free chemical conversion coatings for extruded aluminum and aluminum alloy parts, profiles, coils, plates, and cast aluminum alloy components. Chromium-free chemical conversion coatings can be used independently as anti-corrosion layers, or as a base layer for organic coatings (such as paints, rubber, and adhesives).
