Scope

This document describes the test method for determining the failure strength of bearing alloys bonded to backing materials. This document is applicable to multi-layer sliding bearings with a bearing alloy layer base material of lead, tin, copper, or aluminum. To ensure that the thickness of the tested alloy layer is greater than or equal to 2 mm, it is necessary to leave at least 1 mm of machining allowance for the unprocessed bearing alloy layer. This document is applicable to bearings with a backing material of steel, cast steel, or copper alloy, but not to bearings with a backing material of cast iron. This document is applicable to all sizes of thrust bearings and radial bearings with a backing inner diameter greater than or equal to 90 mm. This document can be used to compare and study the effects of different processes and materials on the bonding strength, and can also be used for production control and process evaluation of bearings. For ultrasonic non-destructive testing of the bonding quality of alloy layers with a thickness greater than or equal to 2 mm, see ISO 43861.
