Scope
This standard specifies the method for determining the sample area corresponding to the detection signals of Auger electron spectroscopy and certain types of X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. This standard is applicable to Auger electron spectrometers and X-ray photoelectron spectrometers that meet the following conditions: the sample area excited by the incident X-ray beam is larger than the sample area detectable by the analyzer; the photoelectrons pass through free space during the process from the sample to the analyzer inlet; and the analyzer is equipped with an auxiliary electron gun that can generate a beam of variable energy electrons to irradiate the sample.
