Scope

This standard specifies a method for measuring the thickness of metal coatings by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) to detect the local thickness of metal samples' cross-sections. It is typically a destructive detection method with an uncertainty of less than 10% or 0.1 μm. This measurement method can also be used to measure coatings several millimeters thick, but for such thick coatings, it is recommended to use the optical microscopy method (GB/T 6462) for measurement.
