Scope

This standard provides quality assurance guidelines in the field of gas analysis to obtain analytical results with valid measurement uncertainties.
This standard specifies the quality assurance guidelines to be used when conducting gas analysis and subsequent verification/certification using calibration gas mixtures, as well as when testing the analytical performance of gas analysis instruments. The overall objective of the procedures specified in this standard is to ensure that the measurement results of gas compositions from different countries and organizations are reliable, comparable, and consistent with each other.
This standard particularly elaborates on the concepts of measurement uncertainty and traceability, and serves as an effective quality assurance tool for the uncertainty of measurement results. It also provides guidelines for determining and estimating the components of measurement uncertainty in the final result, as well as how to combine the elements of measurement uncertainty to obtain a combined uncertainty.
