Scope

This document establishes the rules for the preparation of terminal designations for objects within a system, and is applicable to all technical fields (such as mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, construction engineering, and process engineering). It can be used in systems with a single different application technology or systems that incorporate multiple application technologies.
This document does not include requirements for marking terminal designations on products.
