Scope

This section specifies the general technical requirements and acceptance standards for A-type pulse reflection ultrasonic testing of welds in structural modules and mechanical modules of nuclear power plants. This section applies to the ultrasonic testing of fully penetrated welds in carbon steel and low-alloy steel structural modules and mechanical modules, as well as fully penetrated welds in stainless steel during the manufacturing and installation of nuclear power plants. This section does not apply to the ultrasonic testing of pipe joint welds.
