Scope

1.1 This standard specifies the methods for determining the vapor pressure of gasoline, other volatile petroleum products, and volatile crude oil.
1.2 Method A of this standard is applicable to the determination of the vapor pressure of gasoline (including gasoline containing only methyl tert-butyl ether (MTBE)) and other petroleum products with a vapor pressure less than 180 kPa. The modified steps of Method A are applicable to gasoline with a vapor pressure of 35 kPa to 100 kPa and samples of gasoline with added oxidized compounds.
1.3 Method B of this standard and its modified steps use a semi-automatic horizontal bath tester and are also applicable to the determination of gasoline and other petroleum products suitable for Method A and its modified steps. However, only gasoline and gasoline with added oxidized compounds were used in the inter-laboratory comparison test to determine its precision.
1.4 Method C of this standard is applicable to the determination of samples with a vapor pressure greater than 180 kPa.
1.5 Method D of this standard is applicable to the determination of aviation gasoline with a vapor pressure of approximately 50 kPa.
Note: Since the original atmospheric pressure in the gas chamber offsets the external atmospheric pressure, the Reddish vapor pressure is the absolute vapor pressure at 37.8 °C. It is expressed in kPa. The Reddish vapor pressure is different from the true vapor pressure of the sample, which is due to the evaporation of some relatively light-molecular-weight samples in the local space and the presence of water vapor and air.
1.6 This standard is not applicable to the determination of the vapor pressure of liquefied petroleum gas. The determination method of the vapor pressure of liquefied petroleum gas is referred to GB/T 6602 or ASTM D6897. The precision of the determination of the vapor pressure of crude oil has not been determined by this method. GB/T 11059 is a method for determining
