Scope

This standard applies to the provision of corrosion protection for steel materials, with hot-sprayed zinc, aluminum, and their alloy coatings applied to their surfaces.
This standard involves the performance characterization and related test methods for hot-sprayed zinc, aluminum, and their alloy coatings used for conventional corrosion protection purposes.
This standard first provides relevant definitions, classifications, and marking codes associated with thickness; then it addresses surface pretreatment, coating application, and characteristics such as thickness, appearance, and adhesion; finally, it outlines test methods for detecting these characteristics.
If agreed upon by both suppliers and customers, the provisions of this standard are also applicable to other metal coatings.
