Abstract
This standard specifies the requirements, test methods, inspection rules, and marking, packaging, transportation, and storage for the food additive Tartrazine. This standard applies to a dye made from 4-amino-5-methoxy-2-methylbenzenesulfonic acid, which is diazotized and coupled with 6-hydroxy-2-naphthalenesulfonic acid sodium, followed by salting-out and refining. This product can be added to food, medicine, and cosmetics as a coloring agent.
