1.1 This standard specifies the terms and definitions, instruments and equipment, reagents and materials, preparation of stainless steel specimens, preparation of insulation material specimens, test methods, verification of the qualified stainless steel specimens sensitized for the test, inspection of stainless steel specimens after the test, test results, and test reports for the test method of external stress corrosion cracking of austenitic stainless steel by insulation materials.
1.2 This standard is applicable to insulation materials and products used for austenitic stainless steel, including mineral wool, calcium silicate, composite silicates, expanded perlite, foam asbestos, foam glass, aerogels, and insulating and fire-resistant coatings. It is also applicable to cement and adhesives.
1.3 This standard provides two test methods: the Dana method and the drip method, with the following applicability:
——The Dana method is only applicable to capillary-absorbing materials, and the drip method is applicable to all materials that can be cut or molded into test specimens;
——When the material can be heat-treated into capillary-absorbing materials, it can be tested by the Dana method or the drip method;
——When the material cannot be processed into capillary-absorbing materials or the heat-treatment temperature is higher than the manufacturer's recommended temperature, it shall be tested by the drip method.
