1.1 This standard specifies a method for measuring the friction coefficient of plastic films and sheets during the process of starting to friction and slide with themselves or other substances. This standard is applicable to non-adhesive plastic films and sheets (hereinafter referred to as "films") with a maximum thickness of 0.5 mm.
1.2 This standard is mainly used for quality control. Generally, due to factors such as static electric charge, air cushion, local temperature rise, and wear, this standard does not provide a comprehensive evaluation of the processing performance on packaging or processing machinery.
1.3 The static friction force usually increases with the prolongation of surface contact time. To obtain comparable results, this standard specifies this contact time.
1.4 Sliding properties are sometimes generated by adding additives to plastic materials. The compatibility of additives with the film substrate varies, and they may migrate to the film surface and change its sliding properties. Due to the fact that these factors depend on time, the testing of such films should be related to the storage time of the films.
