GB/T 3836.1-2021 Explosive atmospheres—Part 1:Equipment—General requirements
Abstract
This document specifies the general requirements for the structure, testing, and marking of Ex equipment and Ex components used in explosive environments.
This document applies to equipment intended for use in explosive gas environments or explosive dust environments, including equipment specified by the supplementary documents listed in this document, as general requirements for their use in explosive environments.
It can be assumed that Ex equipment can operate under the following standard atmospheric conditions (related to the explosive characteristics of the environment):
—— Temperature: -20°C to +60°C;
—— Pressure: 80 kPa to 110 kPa;
—— Normal oxygen content in the air: typically 21% (by volume).
This document and other supplementary standards specify additional testing requirements for Ex equipment operating outside the standard temperature range. For Ex equipment operating outside the standard pressure range and standard oxygen content, further considerations and testing may be required. Such additional testing may be particularly relevant for explosion-proof types that rely on flame quenching (e.g., explosion-proof enclosures "d", GB/T 3836.2) or energy limitation (intrinsically safe type "i", GB/T 3836.4).
