This standard describes, with a minimum amount of information, the measurement of the binding energy of energy levels in insulating samples using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, as well as the charge control and charge correction methods to be used when reporting the analysis results. It also provides methodological information useful for charge control and charge correction during the binding energy measurement process.
