1.1 This document specifies the basic requirements and implementation procedures for implementing risk-based inspection (RBI) projects for pressure equipment systems.
1.2 The basic requirements and implementation procedures specified in this document apply to RBI projects for pressure equipment systems in petrochemical plants. RBI projects for other industrial pressure equipment systems can also be used for reference.
1.3 This document applies to RBI projects for the following equipment and related components in pressure equipment systems:
a) Pressure vessels and all their pressure-bearing components;
b) Pressure pipelines and all their pressure-bearing pipeline components within and between process unit boundaries;
c) Atmospheric storage tanks;
d) Shells subject to internal pressure in rotating equipment;
e) Pressure-bearing components in boilers and heating furnaces;
f) Safety valves and other safety relief devices.
1.4 This document does not apply to the following equipment and related components in pressure equipment systems:
a) Instrumentation and control equipment;
b) Electrical equipment;
c) Buildings and structures;
d) Mechanical components in pumps and compressors, excluding pump casings and compressor housings.
