Abstract
This standard specifies the general principles of ultrasonic penetration testing technology. Penetration testing is used for:
——Defect detection;
——Attenuation measurement.
This standard is applicable to the detection of plate-type workpieces, such as plates and strip, and is also applicable to the detection of:
——Defects whose shape, size, or orientation are not conducive to direct reflection testing;
——High attenuation materials;
——Thin workpieces.
The penetration technology specified in this standard focuses on transmission attenuation technology, which is based on measuring the degree of signal attenuation after ultrasound penetrates the workpiece being inspected.
