This part of GB/T 5095 specifies the standard test method for measuring the shielding effect of shielded connectors or connectors equipped with shielding accessories and terminated with shielded cables, but without providing overall shielding.
Note 1: According to the geometry of the connector, continuous complete shielding cannot always be achieved in practice.
This test method is applicable to shielded connectors and connectors with shielding capability, and can test the following different structures of connectors:
—— Circular connectors;
—— Rectangular connectors;
—— Printed board connectors;
—— Connector shielding accessories.
Note 2: The definition of accessories is given in IEV 581-24-10. Shielding accessories, that is, accessories that provide shielding function for non-shielded connectors, may be suitable shielding housings that provide electrical continuity, mating connector devices, or the shielding layer of the shielding cable between the metal mounting surface of the free-end connector housing and the fixed-end connector housing. The free-end connector housing is equipped with cable shielding clamps.
The principle of this test method is to utilize the inherent shielding characteristics of the connector/accessory/cable assembly, and the surface transfer impedance can be expressed as the ratio of the longitudinal voltage in the shielding layer to the current on the surface of the housing.
This test method is based on two impedance-matched circuits, and the test principle is shown in Figure 1. The tested connector is combined in the secondary circuit 02. In the primary circuit 01, an activation electromagnetic field impedance-matched injection line is arranged parallel to the surface of the tested sample.
This test method is also applicable to measuring the shielding effect of connectors equipped with three coaxial contacts and double-twisted shielded cables used in data bus systems.
